About me

I joined UWE as a senior lecturer in July 2013. I contribute to many of the BSc (Hons) and MSc research and practice modules, as well as the BSc/MSc continuing professional development short courses (PACR and EWBL), and the MSc Advanced Practice programme.

Clinical Experience:
Throughout my career I have worked in a variety of clinical practice settings - care of the elderly, orthopaedics and trauma, accident & emergency, critical care, urodynamics and urology research. I specialised in functional urology, where I became a clinical nurse specialist (CNS) in the urodynamic unit at Southmead Hospital/North Bristol Trust, and senior research nurse at the Bristol Urological Institute. As a CNS the many facets of advanced clinical practice (research, education, and leadership) became an integral part of my role. I was a course tutor for the Bristol Urological Institute 'Basic Urodynamic Course', 'Certificate in Urodynamics' (2000-2014), and latterly at advanced level for the 'Expert in Urodynamics Course' (2013-2018). I was also actively involved with urodynamic educational workshops on a national and international level, where I was the co-founder (2009) for the first International Continence Society conference 'hands on' urodynamic workshop. This multi-disciplinary educational workshop model was well received, and has since been rolled out to the British Association of Urological Nurses and European Association of Urology conferences. This experience subsequently led me to collaborative working partnerships with the European Association of Urology Nurses (EAUN) scientific congress office (SCO) 2018-2022, and latterly a member of the EAUN EUAB-CNE Accreditation Board.
