About me

I am a chartered psychologist and I am registered with the Health Professionals Council (HPC) as a practitioner health psychologist. I also have postgraduate qualifications in sport and exercise psychology. I am module leader for the level 3 module health psychology in practice, as well as MSc sport and exercise psychology module Exercise Psychology. I also teach sessions on the MSc health psychology and supervise professional doctorate students in helath psychology.

I was appointed chair of the British psychological society (BPS) qualification in health psychology board (QHPB) in September 2020.

Area of expertise

My research interests focus on well being in relation to exercise (engagement, motivation, impact) and sport, in particular in community settings. I am growing a body of work looking at 'green' interventions on health and links to the environment. My interest in sport is in relation to the impact of sport on individual, group and community health. I am also interested in critical health psychology, specifically understating of health in relation to socioeconomic status and ethnicity. I have expertise in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
