Dr Patrick Crogan

About me

Patrick Crogan is an Australian researcher who has worked at UWE since 2008, teaching film and media related modules. He completed a doctorate at the University of Sydney and has taught at a number of institutions in Australia before coming to the UK.

Area of expertise

Video games: His 2011 book critically examines what videogames can tell us about the relations between war and technoculture.

Digital Cultures: Patrick is a member of UWE's Digital Cultures Research Centre.

Patrick is an expert on the work of media and technology philosopher and activist, Bernard Stiegler, having written several pieces on his work’s relevance to film, media and cultural theory and translated some of his writings into English. He guest edited a special issue of Cultural Politics on Stiegler. He is working on a book about Stiegler's relevance to digital media studies.
