Dr Theo Spyridopoulos

About me

I am a Senior Lecturer in Forensic Computing and Security at the University of the West of England, Bristol, UK and a member of the Cyber-security Research Unit (CSRU) of the Centre for Complex Cooperative Systems (CCCS). My research interest lies in the fields of Cyber-security, Systems Modelling, Machine Learning and Digital Forensics with particular focus on the cyber-protection of Industrial Control Systems. I have contributed to two EU funded projects ("ForToo" and "Nifty"). In the past, I was also involved as a research associate in the Space-Data Routers project (Grant Agreement No 263330) as a member of the Space Internetworking Center (SPICE - Project Number: 264226). I hold a PhD in computer science awarded by the University of Bristol (thesis title: A Holistic Cyber-Protection Approach for Industrial Control Systems Based on Systems Theory - Cyber-security in ISC). I took my MSc (with distinction) and MEng studies at the University of Thrace, Xanthi, Greece. I hold the License to practise the profession of Degree holder Engineer. In the recent past I worked as a Cyber-security Research Engineer at Airbus Group Innovations (in the Cyber Operations team) in Newport, UK. I am a Higher Education Fellow since 2016 and have been involved in a series of external activities including:​

  • Program Committee member in the 7th International Conference on e-Democracy, 2017.
  • Board member in the 5th International Conference on Human Aspects of Information Security, Privacy and Trust, 2017.
  • Program Committee member in the CLOUDFOR 2016 Workshop on Cloud Forensics.
  • Reviewer for the journals: "Computers & Security" and "Journal of the Operational Research Society"
  • Reviewer for the book: "Cybercrime and Cloud Forensics: Applications for Investigation Processes" ​
