About me

I am Beth Benker, and I am a Senior Lecturer in Sociology, and welcome to my page! You will see my email address on this page, please do get in touch.

My interests are firmly rooted in the sociology of food - particularly food within the contemporary dynamic of commodified and distanced food. My research also looks at sustainability - how the effects of distancing and advertising interacts with sustainability, and what effect this has on the environment on a national and global, scale.

I have most recently completed the first qualitative study looking at food procurement during the COVID lockdowns. This has been followed up by an examination of food procurement during the cost of living crisis with the same households. Please see my publications for more information.

I am active as a primary member in the Social Science Research Group and as a secondary member in the Psychological Sciences Research Group.

This is my Google Scholar page.
