About me

Deputy Head of College: Health, Science and Society

I began my career in HE in 1999 at UWE, Bristol and have since worked in a wide range of roles both at UWE, Bristol and elsewhere including roles as Senior Lecturer; Associate Director of a Research Centre; Associate Head of Department; Head of School; Faculty Deputy Dean, and Interim Executive Dean.

I began my career as a historian of 16th and 17th century society, politics and culture, and have published a range of works examining political communication during this period.

Since moving into leadership roles I have focused my energies on delivering the best quality student experience possible. This has resulted in a range of substantial projects addressing issues of student personalisation; graduate outcomes; enhancement of learning opportunities; new programme development; and research-focused and practice-based curricula.

As Deputy Head of College I take a strategic lead on business development; planning, and resourcing; estates, finance and infrastructure, and business and partnership collaboration. All of this work is anchored in a passionate commitment to mirroring our investment in the student journey across into the staff journey.

Skilled in Managerial Finance, Business Development, Strategic Programming, Learning and Teaching Policy and Practice, Research with Impact, Public Engagement, and Widening Participation. Strong Applied Arts and Humanities professional with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) focused in Tudor and Stuart politics.
