About me

Adam is a Senior Lecturer in Journalism at UWE with ten years' experience in industry as a broadcast journalist at both the BBC and large commercial radio groups.

At UWE, Adam leads key modules on the BA (Hons) Media Production course, as well as the MA Journalism and MA Journalism (Audio Docs) post-graduate courses. He has a particular focus on radio, podcasting & broadcast journalism.

Prior to his time at UWE Adam worked for Europe's largest commercial radio group Global as a senior broadcast journalist. Before that he also worked extensively for BBC local radio and a variety of small commercial radio groups.

Adam is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority and has a post graduate qualification in academic professional practice. He has achieved distinctions at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels in his own academic study.

Area of expertise

Adam's area of research primarly focuses on the practice of journalism within the UK radio industry and podcast industry. The recent impact of deregulation and the ever widening focus on digital content over traditional output within these spheres is of particular interest.

He also collaborates with local groups within Bristol to help UWE students develop podcasts with a strong local impact. This currently includes the social enterprise ACH and their #RethinkingReugee campaign (and podcast series).
