Associate Director Media Production and Journalism.
I am passionate about audio, podcast, radio and especially community radio. My work is primarily people-based, rooted in personal narratives, hidden histories and untold stories. Working across several knowledge exchange project to help underrepresented communities have a voice.
As a researcher I have been involved in project looking at improving assessment for students.
I am currently an External Examiner for Chester University BA Single and Combined Honours BA Journalism Programme and BA Music Journalism (2021 - 2024).
I am a Fellow of the of the Higher Education Academy  who teaches Multi-media Journalism, Broadcast Journalism, Audio Production.
I am a journalist with over 15 years' experience in the industry in both radio and online. I worked for many years across national and local Radio as BBC Journalist and Radio Producer and was also a reporter for the BBC Online team.  My expertise covers everything from radio outside broadcasts to topical phone-ins; magazine shows: live debates and documentaries and of course daily news reading shifts.
I specialise in shaping radio content and creative digital editing solutions and hav worked with several independent production companies advising on developing ideas to be pitched in commissioning rounds at Radio 4, 5Live, BBC World Service and BBC 1Xtra.
I am very hands on and have over 5 years' experience teaching radio at both HE and professional level mainly to early career journalists and producers. A former lecturer at Salford University and The Manchester College in Radio Production I have designed and developed the content across many courses ensuring industry focus.

Podcaster and Contributor: developing a new podcast for the Community, with invaluable advice about extending the work of the Community into this new medium to engage staff within and beyond UWE to support the University's goal in reducing awarding gaps.

The Story of Fem FM – 2022

Collaborator: the UK's 1st all female radio station celebrates its 30th anniversary!. In 1992, over 250 women made history in Bristol by setting up the UK's first women's radio station, Fem FM. It launched the careers of many. Podcasts to pay tribute and celebrate this iconic moment in broadcast history

Empathy Museum 2022

Collaborator: Bristol: City of Activism is a series of audio interviews with people taking action for causes they care about – from marrying trees to building comedy clubs. Each episode offers an invigorating glimpse into the many ways we can work to make things better for our communities.

Bristol Food Connections, oral history project 2021

Collaborator, Series of podcasts aiming to reconnect people with our rural hinterland by introducing some of the farmers and food producers in and around Bristol, capturing the stories of the people who feed us and why they farm, what their life as a farmer is like, and how COVID-19 has impacted them as producers.

12 communities 1 Bristol 2020

Co fundraiser and collaborator.  Exploring some of the areas and communities that make up our city. The podcasts are filled with fascinating insights into the history of our communities; from the man who grew up as a young boy in Barton Hill during the Blitz, to the local shopkeeper who has been serving the community for years, to the woman who found sanctuary and a home in the city. These are the human stories that are so often overlooked.
