About me

After studying Philosophy at Birmingham University Craig gained a PGCE in London and went on to teach in North London schools.

In 1976 he joined the Lindsay Kemp Theatre Company and wrote music for the acclaimed production of Wilde's Salome at the Roundhouse.

Craig won the Guardian/ICA Songwriter of the Year award in 1989 with The Fisherman (which features in his current show).

He co-edited two novels by Sarah Kavanagh and with the author adapted one of them for the screen (Wired to the Moon).

After teaching acting, directing and playwriting at Morley College for 14 years and producing many plays there, he moved to Somerset and joined the Drama Department at UWE.

He set up the Creative Writing stream in 2008 and was Programme Manager for Drama with Creative Writing and Film with Screenwriting between 2014 and 2017.

Craig still teaches Introduction to Creative Writing to level one students and is presently working on a production of his show Things I Want to Know (with UWE students and alumni) for performance in 2024.
