About me

Danny is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology and leads modules on the MSc Sport & Exercise Psychology course. Danny joined UWE from Middlesex University in 2020, where he was the curriculum lead for Sport and Exercise Psychology and programme leader for a Football Science BSc. As an applied practitioner, he is accredited by the HCPC, British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) and is a chartered scientist. Danny completed a postgraduate qualification in teaching within Higher Education (PGCHE) and became a teaching fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) in 2018.

 

Danny has worked in full-time applied roles and consulted alongside his work in academia, working across a breadth of sports. He most recently worked with AFC Bournemouth supporting them in obtaining promotion back to the English Premier League. Prior to this, Danny has worked with Fulham FC, Sunderland AFC, AFC Wimbledon and consulted with clients across a breadth of elite sport (tennis, rowing, fencing, athletics, american football, basketball and golf).

 

Outside of sport, Danny has also worked in performance and wellbeing capacities with the British Military, finance, and business sectors at both organisational and individual levels.

 

Danny is a member of the Optimising Performance and Engagement (OPE) theme of the Psychological Sciences Research Group. He is currently leading a research project investigating athlete and staff perceptions of mental health support services in elite English football.
