About me

Darren was awarded a PhD in Social Psychology from Loughborough University in 2007. He co-authored Social Psychology of Emotion (Sage Publications 2015) and Emotion in the Digital Age (Routledge Publications, 2020). Darren is a member of the British Psychological Society as a chartered Psychologist (CPsychol), a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Area of expertise

Darren has been interested in representations of emotion, for example, how it is experienced and conceptualised. This has led to research in areas such as: surveillance, social media and emotional discolosure. More recently he has been researching digital therapies, such as: mental health apps, virtual AI friends and psychotherapy platforms.
