About me

As Director of Apprenticeships I am responsible for the strategic leadership and development of the university's Apprenticeship portfolio.

My role is to direct the Apprenticeship Hub and to work closely in partnership with faculties and services across the university and with employers and other key stakeholders across the region to ensure that we deliver high quality apprenticeships that meet the skills needs of employers, the economy and society. A key purpose of my role is to ensure that our Higher and Degree Apprenticeships promote greater social mobility by creating apprenticeships and pathways that are attractive and accessible to a diverse group of learners, reflecting the talent from across society.

Prior to my current role I worked for 17 years in national policy and regulatory roles, working collaboratively across the higher education sector and beyond to improve Higher Education access and participation for people from under-represented and disadvantaged backgrounds. This included as Assistant Director for Access and Participation in the Office for Students and Assistant Director of the Office for Fair Access.
