About me

Doug initially trained as a mechanical engineer with Hawker Siddeley before embarking on a career as a product and automotive designer. Doug graduated in product design at Leicester Polytechnic and then secured a place on the prestigious Vehicle Design course at the Royal College of Art - at the time, one of only three masters courses worldwide specialising in vehicle styling. It was during this time that Doug was able to specialise in his passion for motorcycles with his final year project - a radical hub center steered sports motorcycle realised as a fully finsihed half scale model. Doug's project was the star of the 1985 Graduation Show and was awarded the Giorgetto Guigaro Prize for Creativity - quite an accolade!

On graduation from the RCA, Doug worked for two years as a designer for Seymour Powell working on both product and automotive projects. Following this, Doug worked for Frog Design in their German office, again working on a variety of projects including motorcycle styling, bathroom and sanitary ware and consumer electronics.
