About me

I work at the interface between industry and academia looking for solutions to the climate and ecological emergency that are framed within the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

I research novel climate neutral biobased materials and teach the new generation of built-environment professionals on state-of-the-art construction technologies.

Currently, I am undertaking research and raising funds for developing environmental, social and economically feasible bio-based building solutions that tackle global challenges by integrating Circular Economy  principles, Data Science and Disruptive Business Models.

I have led two international architecture and engineering consultancies and the construction of 30+ low-carbon new-builds with the right balance of conventional construction materials and bamboo, timber, earth and straw.

Research questions:

  • How can digital engineering technologies including Big Data & Analytics, 3D photogrammetry, VR and AR be used for enabling a wider adoption of biobased materials by decision makers ( e.g. Architects, Contractors, Managers and Surveyors) and end users in new builds and refurbishments?)
  • How can data science and material information databases e.g. life cycle assessment LCA ) be integrated with digital imaging tools to generate user friendly end to end biobased construction platforms within a circular economy and climate neutral approach?
  • What are the key performance indicators (KPI) determining the wider implementation of circular biobased and digital approaches across the construction industry?
