Experienced researcher in virology and biosensors.

Researcher in virology developing antivirals whilst working for the pharmaceutical company, GSK. This involved determining structure activity relationships and mode of action studies of lead compounds. Pre-clinical evaluation the HIV antiviral Epivir, collaboration with Biota Holdings to develop the anti-influenza antiviral Relenza^TM , from the bench through pre-clinical evaluation, clinical trials, regulatory affairs, external scientific affairs, marketing and launch.

Researcher in Biosensors developing diagnostics for animal, human and plant diseases. My research has involved the detection of pathogens present in food and the food production process in animals and plants, to detection of bacterial responsible for UTI infections and biomarkers of cancer in people. My focus has been the use of novel technologies in the development of point-of-use diagnostics in the detection of pathogens.
Raised over £2.5million in funding from the NIHR, Innovate UK and Connected (GCRF) as Principal Investigator and co-applicant.
Published both biosensor and virology research e.g. Nature, Antimicrobial agents and Chemotherapy, Biosensors, Virology and The Microbiologist

Maintained successful collaborations with SME's e.g., Clarity BioSolutions, large companies e.g., MARS Wrigley and the NHS eh. The Bristol Urology Institute.
