About me

I joined UWE in August 2023 as a Senior Lecturer in Policing and Criminology, where I am the module leader on the Professional Policing Degree for Culture and Structure, and Evidence-Based Policing.

My PhD research focused on the police interviewing of vulnerable suspects within the context of homicide investigations. The research also considered the impact of third parties such as the legal advisor and appropriate adult on the interview process. My MSc research considered the use of S.136 MHA and the police station as a place of safety.

Prior to working as a lecturer, I worked in the police for over 6 years, briefly as a Case Builder, before working in Major Crime where I specialised in exhibits and disclosure on a number of high-profile murder investigations. I have also formerly been an independent custody visitor.

I am currently a member of iIIRG, the ESC and the Homicide Research Group.

Area of expertise

Police investigation, investigative interviewing, homicide, stalking, vulnerability.
