About me

I completed my MSC in 2019 and my research focussed on Feminist Cultures in Higher Education and the role of the woman's voice. I applied a Feminist Standpoint epistemology with a qualitative methodology. My nursing background has been in Intensive Care and Womens Acute which is where my main interest spans from.

My research interests are predominantly in Women's Mental Health having developed a workshop for the CPD Perinatal Mental Health module. I am interested in the hormonal lifespan of women and the impact this has on women's mental health. Identifying how this is supported in MH nursing care particularly in line with the Mental Health Act within inpatient units.

My other area of interest is the notion of gendered care and identifying the link between trauma and a higher prevalence of the diagnosis Personality Disorder in women. Particularly focusing on women whom have worked as a sex worker or have experienced domestic abuse and the idea of re-traumatising due to restraint.

I have also developed a Gender and Sexuality workshop which I ran in year 3 Modules for Social Policy and Promoting Recovery. One aspect of this focusses on the care of someone who is transitioning whilst under mental health care and the support we offer identifying focussed care options.
