About me

George worked in the photography industry for 15 years, before joining the technical team at UWE.

Industry experience started with B&W and colour darkroom printing and studio assistant work. George then specialised in lighting in the studio and on location, working as a lighting technician on shoots for clients such as Waitrose, Nationwide and Yeo Valley.
He set up a Bristol based studio and also started working as a post production assistant for other photographers.
George embraced the transition from analogue to digital, and quickly became experienced in digital workflows and retouching.
The move to UWE allowed George to share this knowledge of both digiatal and analogue systems with students through technical workshops and support.
George's key skills are lighting techniques and printing to a high level, whether this be in the darkroom or digitally.
George still works on personal projetcs whilst now running the technical centre at Bower Ashton.
George strives to run a technical centre that is professional and expansive, keeping traditional techniques available, encouraging experimental practice and also offering industry standard production facilities.
