About me

Abdul is an Associate Professor of Innovative and Industrialised Construction at the University College London (UCL) and a Visiting Fellow at the UWE Centre of Architecture and Built Environment Research (CABER). His expertise is mainly research, consulting and teaching in the areas of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and the application of emerging digital technologies in construction as well as industrialised construction and design for occupational health and safety.   Abdul holds a PhD in the area of BIM, an MSc in Construction Project Management and BSc in Building Technology.  He has worked in the infrastructure sector in project and cost management. He is chartered construction manager with The Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB), UK and a fellow of Higher Education Academy, UK. He has led (PI/CoI) and managed several research projects under the auspices of organisations including the European Union (Erasmus+), The UK Department for Transport, Innovate UK, and the UK Department for International Development (DFID). His ongoing projects include development and testing of immersive Virtual Reality applications for improving safety training as well as exploration of Artificial Intelligence techniques for improving infrastructure and construction cost estimation.
