About me
I am a Lecturer in Robotics (Robot Learning) at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) based at Bristol Robotics Laboratory (BRL).
My research focuses on developing intelligent robotic systems capable of sensing, interpreting, and interacting with complex physical environments. My expertise spans soft robotics, tactile and force sensing, sensor skins, and surgical robotics.
Before joining UWE Bristol, I was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Queen Mary University of London, where I worked on stiffness-sensing technologies for minimally invasive surgery. I completed my PhD in Mechanical Engineering (Robotics) at Queen Mary in 2023, focusing on soft capacitive and optical sensor skins. I also hold a Master's degree in Design and Manufacturing Engineering and a Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering, both from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan.
My broader research interests lie in understanding how sensing, physical interaction, and learning can be integrated to develop more capable and adaptable robotic systems.
I welcome opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly at the intersection of robotics, engineering, artificial intelligence, and biomedical sciences.
