Ahmet joined UWE in 2020 as a
Senior Lecturer within the Accounting, Economics and Finance department. His
research interests include financial intermediation, risk management,
behavioural finance and the role of the information environment in capital markets.
He has a BSc. Degree in Economics (1994) and MA Degree in Economics & Finance (1998) from Istanbul University. In 2005, he was one of the two Turkish professionals who had been awarded the MSc. scholarship program jointly provided by the World Bank and the Japanese Government. As part of this scholarship, he researched on Behavioural Finance and Economics at the University of Bath. His Ph.D. is in Economics at Istanbul University, where he focused on banking sector risks, mainly interest rate risk.
He has got 20+ years of experience in the financial services industry specializing in internal & external audit, banking, risks and regulatory compliance. Before moving to academia, he worked as an Auditor, Chief Auditor and Risk Officer at Borsa Istanbul between 1995-2019. He has extensive consultancy experience in the fields of financial accountancy, banking and fintech besides board-level experience with two small-cap private firms in the UK and professional organizations.
He has been an FRM Charter Holder since 2008 and a CFA Charter Holder since 2010.
