About me

I'm the Associate Director for Animation and Drama in the School of Arts.

I lead 2 modules: the Level 3 core module Final Year Project (Dissertations and Performance Projects), and the Level 2 option New Shakespeares.

I am the Artistic Director of Writers' Block, a theatre company based in Bristol that produces new work by new writers. We hold an annual New Performance Festival. In its early years this ran at the Brewery Theatre, which is part of Bristol's renowned Tobacco Factory Theatre, from 2016 it was based at the Arnolfini.

My plays have most recently been performed at the Alma Tavern Theatre in Bristol, and I have directed at the Arnolfini, the Brewery and the Alma Tavern Theatres in Bristol, Warwick Arts Centre, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

I have published in the area of Shakespeare and performance, most recently in the book This England, That Shakespeare.

My PhD thesis was on the performance of Ben Jonson's plays from 1977 to the present day.
