About me

I'm the Programme Manager for the Drama, and Drama & Acting degrees.

In addition I lead 3 modules: the Level 3 core module Final Year Project (Dissertations and Performance Projects), the Level 2 option Devising and Physical Theatre, and the Level 1 core module Introduction to Physical Theatre.

I am also a director and playwright.

I am the Artistic Director of Writers' Block, a theatre company based in Bristol that produces new work by new writers. We hold an annual New Performance Fest. In its early years this ran at the Brewery Theatre, which is part of Bristol's renowned Tobacco Factory Theatre, from 2016 it is based at the Arnolfini.

My plays have most recently been performed at the Alma Tavern Theatre in Bristol, and I have directed at the Arnolfini, the Brewery and the Alma Tavern Theatres in Bristol, Warwick Arts Centre, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

I conduct interviews and write reviews of contemporary bands' albums and gigs for various websites and I was one of the Editors on the music site The Whiteboard Project, which featured my weekly column The Albums Round Up.

I have published in the area of Shakespeare and performance, most recently in the book This England, That Shakespeare.

My PhD thesis was on the performance of Ben Jonson's plays from 1977 to the present day.
