About me
I have joined the School of Engineering as a Senior Lecturer. I am part of the Advanced Materials and Structures team.
Upon completion of my BSc (Hons) and MSc in Mechanical Engineerig and after two years of industrial job as a Senior Project Engineer, I joined the University of Bristol for my PhD and completed it in 2005. He was then completed a Postdoc position at UoB which was followed by a lectureship position. I was an Associate Professor at Bu-Ali Sina University before joining UWE Bristol.
I have 18+ years of teaching experience at Undergraduate, Master and Doctorate levels in Mechanics of Materials and Computational and Experimental Mechanics. All in all, I have taught 1700+ undergraduates and 300+ Master’s and PhD’s students. I am professional in programme management and curriculum design. My teaching courses include Mechanics of Materials, Experimental Stress Analysis, Advanced Mechanical Behaviour of Materials, Structural Mechanics and Aero Structures.
I have supervised 6 PhD students and graduated 4 PhD students. More than 35 MScs and 70 Undergraduates for their final dissertations and projects graduated under my supervision. I have directed and managed more than 10 industrial projects and consultancies for a range of different industries from Combine Harvester machines to surgical implants and Oil and Gas.
My interdisciplinary research background is focused on the structural integrity, computational and experimental mechanics, mechanics of materials, stress analysis and residual stresses with a vast knowledge of failure analysis and life cycle assessment techniques which can effectively serve the aerospace engineering, offshore engineering and marine. I am also applying the concept of “Residual Stress Engineering” for the life extension of engineering components.
