About me

Prior to joining UWE I worked as a Machine Learning Engineer at the Ministry of Defence and I received my doctorate from the University of Bath in the development of novel machine learning methods for extreme rainfall analysis.

My primary research interest is the application of machine learning to the analysis and forecasting of meteorological and hydrological extremes (for example, storms, flooding and climate change). While I achieved my doctorate through the WISE CDT (Water informatics, science and engineering center for doctoral training) I worked with several partners such as the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and the University of Brasília.

Outside of academia I have gained extensive experience in data science, DevOps and software engineering through various government and non-government roles. I have also held several teaching positions at the University of Bath (in Data Science, Software Engineering, Hydraulics and Advanced Mathematics), University of Plymouth (in Distributed Systems and Cloud Development) and at New College, Swindon (Computer Science).

I am currently a member of the Institute of Mathematics and the Royal Meteorological Society.
