About me

Prof Angelina Sanderson Bellamy is Professor of Food Systems at UWE Bristol and has won £18 million in funding (£6.2 million as PI), including PI of the UKRI-funded Agrifood for Net Zero Network+ (EXP0110621) and TGRAINS project (BB/S014292/1). Before working at UWE, Prof Sanderson Bellamy was Senior Research Fellow and Associate Dean for Environmental Sustainability at Cardiff University. She also worked as a Research Fellow at the Stockholm Resilience Centre and Stanford University’s Wood’s Institute for the Environment. Her research career has been based at interdisciplinary research institutes, where she enjoys collaborating with colleagues across social, natural and physical sciences to tackle today’s grand challenges. Prof Sanderson Bellamy’s undergraduate degree is in Human Biology from Stanford and her PhD is in Ecology from Stockholm University. Angelina's experience draws from working across Latin American and UK food landscapes and she is passionate about making our food systems environmentally sustainable, healthy and accessible for all. 

Area of expertise

Angelina's area of expertise encompasses food production systems, household food consumption, short supply chains, land use and land cover change, ecological resilience and ecosystem services. She uses a social-ecological framework and interdisciplinary methods to investigate the drivers, particularly governance and support structures, of environmental change and the impact of land management on the delivery of ecosystem services. Her experience draws from working across Latin American and UK food landscapes.
