About me

Ashley Smith is an architect, educator and musician. He is a lecturer in interior design, specialising in the complex interfaces between spatial design, the built environment and the processes of designing and making. As an academic he is responsible for  developing and leading the Design Futures interior design module.

Ashley has a wealth of industry experience across a broad range of building typologies. He held senior positions in several award-winning practices working on internationally recognised regeneration projects, such as London International Exhibition Centre, Kings Cross Regent Quarter and Bristol Royal Infirmary Redevelopment. In 2013 he founded Smith Maloney Hillier (SM+H), with his wife Natasha Smith. Over 15 years the practice established a reputation for designing beautifully detailed modern buildings and interiors.
