About me
Bernhard worked as a journalist in the USA and Germany before joining academia. He's been at UWE Bristol as part of the Journalism team since 2009. In his teaching as well as his research, Bernhard is keen to explore the practice of journalism through its critical evaluation. His research interests are focussed around issues related to the media coverage and representation of migration as well as new forms of civic accountability and civic engagement through digital technologies. Bernhard also has a range of Postgraduate Research (PGR) responsibilities. He's the Academic Director of UWE's Doctoral Academy, the academic lead for UWE on the South, West and Wales 2 AHRC-funded Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) as well as the South West ESRC-funded DTP. Previously, until it came to a close, he was the co-director for 3D3, an AHRC-funded Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT).Publications
