About me

Associate Professor in Business and Management Education. Enterprise Champion at the College of Business and Law. Team Coach in the Team Entrepreneurship (TE) programme. 

Berrbizne is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). She holds an International PhD (Hons) in Economics and Business Management, on the research line of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Territory (University of Valencia). Besides, she holds an MSc in East Asian Studies (University of Bristol), an MBA (Mondragon University) and BA (Hons) in Business Administration and Management (Mondragon University).

Prior to joining UWE, Berrbizne worked in Mondragon University (Spain) as a lecturer on various subjects both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in different programmes (LEINN- Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovation Degree, Bachelor´s degree in Business Administration and Management, Master on International Business, Master Social Economy and Cooperative Business Studies, etc.).

She leads various modules around Enterprise and Entrepreneurship at UWE and others externally (i.e. Asia-Pacific module of the Master on Internal Business at Mondragon). Her previous work on research was in Mondragon Innovation and Knowledge (MIK), the research center on management of Mondragon Business Group.

She has previously presented her work at various academic conferences and doctoral consortiums such as Academy of International Business (AIB) or European Academy of International Business (EIBA).  Berrbizne has received various awards for her research (best paper 2017 XXVII ACEDE Conference, best doctoral communication 2015 Torrecid Award), best paper award for Research on Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Education (IEEC 2023).

She is a member of GESTOR (Organizational Geostrategy: Clusters and Competitiveness) in the University of Valencia and BLCC (Bristol Leadership and Change) research group at UWE. She has done different research periods in CEIBS- China Europe International Business School (Shanghai, China), NTU- Nottingham Trent University (Nottingham, UK) or University of Valencia (Valencia, Spain).

  • Partnership PhD. With Young Lives in Malaysia. (PI, DoS): Action research -refugee entrepreneurial ecosystems.
  • FBL HEIF (Higher Education Innovation Fund): "Entrepreneurship Education Consultancy for young refugees at Open Door Policy". Pedagogical consultancy services and train the trainers programme for mentors.
    CBL-CHSS Connecting-Research (PI) "Embodying Enterprise value among UWE-staff across disciplines" to understand how 'enterprising' is practiced and to identify educators' development needs.
  • CBL-CATE Collaborative-Research project (PI) An exploration of the lived experiences of UWE Drama graduates in forming successful creative partnership as theatre makers and entrepreneurs.  
    UWE Student partnership pedagogic project (PI). A new kind of Understanding and Compassion -diversity and biases. 
  • Vice-Chancellors Early Career Researcher Award (UWE, Bristol). Identifying Threshold Concepts of Entrepreneurship beyond business and across cultures.
