About me

I am Associate Director in the School of Social Sciences responsible for Philosophy, Politics and International Relations, and a Senior Lecturer on the Philosophy Programme.  For more information on the philosophy BA programme at UWE please see: https://courses.uwe.ac.uk/V500/philosophy

I am available to supervise PhD students in topics related to my areas of expertise below.

My work focusses on Schelling's philosophy, in particular on his Naturphilosophie and theory of freedom.  More broadly I am interested in conceptions of freedom, agency, and nature, and their relationship, particularly in post-Kantian philosophy.  My newest research project looks at eco-philosophy and environmental ethics, and on the productive contribution that philosophies of nature such as Schelling’s can make to contemporary thought in this area.
