About me

Chisa Onyejekwe is an experienced legal scholar and academic leader. She currently serves as Associate Director of Law at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), Prior to this, she was Associate Head of Department at Bristol Law School and held roles as Programme Leader (Undergraduate) and Senior Lecturer in Law at Canterbury Christ Church University. Chisa holds a PhD in Law and a Master of Laws (LLM) from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. She also earned a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Nigeria and is a qualified Solicitor and Barrister in Nigeria, having previously practised as a Solicitor to major Nigerian Financial Institutions.

As an active researcher, Chisa’s interests span human rights, economic development in Africa, and the regulation of apprenticeships on the continent. Her work critically examines key issues shaping African development, including regional integration, the role of the African Union, taxation policy, and human rights advancement. In particular, her research on taxation explores the impact of fiscal policies and legal frameworks on economic justice, advocating for equitable systems that empower marginalized communities and support sustainable regional growth.
