About me

Chris is a Director of Learning Resources for the College of Arts, Technology and Environment at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol).  He is a passionate advocate for the value of practice-based teaching and research, with leadership experience spanning Alliance and Russell Group universities.

Chris studied geosciences before starting his career in Higher Education in 2006 as a Technical Instructor, teaching laboratory and fieldwork skills.  In 2011 he successfully completed a Marie Curie research fellowship, applying nano-technology to remediate contaminated water and soil.  This led him to develop and manage Geochemical laboratories for research and teaching, before moving to broader Technical Leadership roles. He utilises his varied experience of Higher Education to develop agile and effective human and physical resources in support of effective teaching and research.

Chris has a collaborative, inclusive and solution-focused approach leveraged from his experience playing team sports.  He enjoys building and working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver meaningful outcomes for staff and students.  Chris has always challenged himself physically and mentally alongside work, recently completing an MBA as a Degree Apprentice.  His love of sport and the outdoors was forged at an early age and developed his ability to trust and respect the strengths of others; whilst being independent, driven and dependable.
