About me

Research interests: Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Learning

My research interests lie in the exploration of entrepreneurship and innovation management. In my doctoral research I have examined the role of business incubators and innovation centres in supporting entrepreneurs and small business founders. Challenging the concept of growth linearity and building on the subjective nature of firm growth has led me to explore the concept of stakeholder valence

Stakeholder valence refers to the value that stakeholders place on a firm's potential future states. This concept suggests that a firm's development is affected by the combined interest of individuals, from major investors to minor stakeholders, in the firm's various manifestations. The combination of these individual valences creates a 'valence pull,' which directs the firm's trajectory. I am interested in further exploring stakeholder valence, its dynamic nature, and its implications for firm growth, business incubation and other contexts - and welcome research collaborations and doctoral research projects in this area.

In parallel with entrepreneurship and innovation, I am fascinated by the concept of learning as the processes of acquisition and integration of new knowledge. As a strong sceptic of the "AI revolution", I am currently exploring methodologies in using AI for teaching and learning and very much value interactions of any nature in this area - from informal discussions and conversations to research projects and collaborations at doctoral or post-doctoral level.
