About me

Dr Clare Chambers-Jones is an Associate Professor in banking and finance law in the Business and Law Faculty at UWE.  She specialises in areas of banking and finance regulation in the real and virtual world. Her work in cyberlaw for economics is paving the way for new areas of legal discussions. Clare has published prolifically in the area of virtual financial crime and banking regulation. Her latest two monographs published by Edward Elgar are: Virtual Economies and Financial Crime: Money laundering in Cyberspace​ (2012) and ​Financial Crime and Gambling in a virtual world, a new frontier in cybercrime​ (2014).

Clare has worked in the city at Grant Thornton and Morgan Stanley as a compliance officer for IBD and Equity research.

Clare publishes frequently in her areas and also carries out research projects for both UWE and the Commonwealth Legal Education Association of which she was  General Secretary from 2008-2011.

Clare is actively involved in innovate teaching, learning and assessment strategies at the university has has just completed a Masters in Education in Virtual Worlds ensuring her research informs her teaching.

Clare has spoken internationally on her research and continues to be involved in research projects nationally and interantionally.

Clare is a sucessful PhD supervisor having one completion and 5 pending PhD's. The PhD which was sucessfully defended was:

Dr Axel Palmer 'A critique of the counter-economic crime regime in the United Kingdom, with reference to the United States of America and Australia'​ 2015.
