About me
Cobus is Senior Lecturer in Intellectual Property Law (LLB), International Intellectual Property Law (LLM), Cyberlaw (LLB) and Technology Law (LLM), specialising in the electronic aspects of IP Law and the exploitation of IP rights in the digital environment.
He is also one of the two Assessment Offences Advisors in Bristol Law School.
Prior to joining UWE, he was a Consolidoc Postdoctoral Fellow in Law at the Faculty of Law, Stellenbosch University and also Lecturer of Law in the Department of Mercantile Law teaching Intellectual Property Law, Internet Law and IP Law in the Digital Environment. He was also a Fellow of IP Law at the Anton Mostert Chair of Intellectual Property Law.
Cobus' published doctoral research dealt with the Decompilation of Computer Object Code and permissable exceptions to Copyright Law in the UK, USA and RSA, a portion of which has been published as a journal article in the SAIIPL. He is also the sole author and/or co-author of four book chapters in three books on Intellectual Property Law, Data Protection, Protection of Personal Information and EIP Law.
