About me

Having qualified from UWE in 2000 I have been a registered nurse (child) since then. I have worked in the area of Paediatric Critical Care within Bristol Royal Hospital for Children for all of my career, working my way up to a Band 6 on the critical care unit. I was part of the Retrieval team and also the student support link. I worked as part of the Outreach Team and was a Site Manager during this time. In 2014 I started my Advanced Practice role and then focussed my time mostly working for the Wales and West Acute Transport for Children (WATCh) team. This role enabled me to work in the 'medical' role travelling to all areas of the South West and South Wales, transporting sick children to the PICUs in the region and beyond.

In 2020 I started my Senior Lecturer role part time and the in 2022 became full time within this role. Within the role I teach all areas of theory and practical skills to both pre-registration children and young people's nursing students and Post-registration nurses and AHPs. I enjoy teaching year one skills, assessment skills in year two and also the high dependency needs of children choice module, alongside all other aspects of the role of a childrens nurse. I'm a member of the CYP Nurse Academic Network UK.
