About Technology Governance

Technology Governance is essential to the success of UWE's IT Services and the information technologies it develops and delivers for students, staff, partners and the University as a whole.

We are responsible for the University's Information Management & Information Security strategies including design, implementation and management of university-wide policies and technical controls that protect the integrity of UWE systems and information within them.  We ensure university systems and processes meet internationally recognised "CoBIT" enterprise governance and management standards to help increase trust in, and value from, information systems.  To do this we assure IT processes and projects so that the IT Services function continually improves and reaches the highest levels of capability maturity.  We deliver information-risk assessments, support information asset owners and manage cyber/information security incidents across the university alongside internal IT risk and audit points.  We lead key IT tender processes and supplier reviews to maximise the benefit of UWE's IT investment with third party technology providers and actively contribute to tender processes undertaken by Faculties working with the NHS, MoD and others.
