About me

Delia Fairburn is Director of Learning and Teaching in the School of Computing and Creative Technologies.  She joined the university following many years of working in the IT industry, including Head of Training EMEA at Intel Corp.  

This experience was invaluable in the development of professionally oriented programmes at UWE such as BSc (Hons) Information Technology and Management for Business, and BSc (Hons) Business Computing.  She has recently led the re-design of these programmes.

In her current role she leads the transformation of the curriculum within computer sciences and creative technologies at UWE.  Particular focus is on ensuring the development an inclusive and professionally oriented curriculum that is supportive to the outcomes for students from diverse backgrounds and cultural heritage.

Area of expertise

Delia's area of expertise is in developing professional practice modules which enable students to develop their hard and soft skills in the areas of Computer Science and related topics.  She has developed and managed large scale dissertation and project modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level.  She is also an expert in quality assurance processes in HE.
