About me
I'm a senior lecturer in filmmaking and artist working in a variety of mediums including painting, drawing, photography and installations.
Currently I'm developing my feature documentary debut Wolf Park, produced by Anita Norfolk (Folk Film, Norway) and co-produced with Sisyfos Film (Sweden) and Jump Cut (Italy). We are beneficiaries of development support from Screen Scotland, Creative Europe MEDIA, and the Swedish Film Institute. The film was part of Eurodoc 2023, and pitched at Festival de Cannes 2024 for the Scottish Showcase.
My work is presented at film festivals, conferences, and museums. Highlights are winner of the Jury Prize at Ann Arbor Film Festival 2019 for Wolves From Above, and screenings at e.g. Festival Du Nouveau Cinéma Montréal, Full Frame, Hamptons IFF, Edinburgh IFF, Planet in Focus, Wroclaw Media Art Biennale, Finnish Museum of Photography Helsinki, FACT Liverpool, and The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Seoul [MMCA].
From 2021-2023 I was Associate Professor in Film at Edinburgh Napier University, Scotland. Before this from 2015-2021, I was Senior Lecturer for the BA Hons Film Studies, MA Film, and MA Art in Science at Liverpool John Moores University, England.
Area of expertise
My practice and research interests relate to depicting other worlds: ecologies of the sea, land, sky and exchanges in-between, animal interactions, darkness and the night, sci-fi, hybrid film, documentary film, creative voice-over, happenstance in art making and storytelling, sensuality, empathy, and women's histories.
