About me
Dominic joined UWE at the end of August 2021 as a Senior Lecturer in Policing. Dominic joined Gloucestershire Constabulary in 2004, working in response. In 2013 transferred to Avon and Somerset continuing his work in a response role. As part of the response role, Dominic was a Tutor Constable, Taser carrier and worked as a Family Liaison Officer (Traffic). In 2016 Dominic joined the Learning Department with Avon and Somerset, undertaking various teaching commitments. Along with First Aid, PiP Level 1 (Interviewing) and ABE Interviewing, Dominic trained officers on the use on the Lion Intoxyliser Breath Test machine, taught and developed training courses and worked collaboratively with UWE to develop new assessment templates.
Dominic has also taught internationally, teaching Cypriot officers as part of the Sovereign Based Area Policing Teams.
Dominic is a qualified CAVA (A1) Assessor and has attained a Level 5 Coaching award to assist those who are keen to develop and has recently completed his Post Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (PGCert LTHE), along with his fellowship to the Higher Education Academy. Dominic has previously been a Level 4 Dyslexia Assessor, assisting those in the workplace to identify reasonable adjustments to assist with inclusive learning for all. Dominic is a passionate and facilitative lecturer, with an enthusiastic and inclusive teaching style. His occupational experience provides context and insight into the world of modern-day policing.
