About me

Dr Donggang Cao is a Lecturer in Aerospace Propulsion at UWE Bristol. He holds Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD degrees in Propulsion Theory and Engineering from Northwestern Polytechnical University, China. He previously worked at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology as a postdoctoral researcher and adjunct lecturer. He then joined Tel Aviv University as a research staff member, conducting work on advanced electrical propulsion technologies. He joined UWE in 2025 to contribute to high-quality teaching, research in clean and sustainable propulsion, and the development of future aerospace engineers.

Area of expertise

Dr Donggang Cao’s expertise spans aerospace propulsion, combustion, fluid dynamics, and multiphysics simulation. His work integrates high-fidelity computational modelling, advanced diagnostic techniques, and experimental studies to investigate turbulent reacting flows, liquid-fuel spray behaviour, scramjet combustion, and electrically driven propulsion systems. He also specialises in dielectrophoretic transport, droplet deformation, and micro–nano scale fluid–particle interactions. His research connects fundamental flow physics with practical propulsion applications, advancing cleaner, more efficient, and sustainable aerospace technologies.
