About me
Emmanuel is a dynamic, innovative, and enthusiastic academic and practitioner with more than five years of successful experience in higher education and clinical practice. As a Senior Lecturer in Occupational Therapy, Emmanuel supports the ethos of an inclusive and collaborative learning environment that enables learners to develop the knowledge and skills to excel in their professional practice.
Having obtained considerable experience working with children with special and complex needs and learning difficulties, Emmanuel has developed a wide array of intervention and therapeutic approaches to support children and families to help children get involved in daily activities with which they have some difficulty. This clinical experience has informed and enhanced both teaching and research with an emphasis on practicality and pertinence to the world of experience.
Emmanuel’s area of research interests encompasses inclusivity of persons with disabilities, rehabilitation, environmental adaptations and modifications, assistive technology, and occupational justice. These interests drive my ongoing pursuit of knowledge and innovation, aiming to advance the field of occupational therapy and improve the quality of life for those with disabilities, thus empowering persons with disabilities to participate in society with full rights and accessibility while reducing stigmatization and unfair treatment.
In addition to my academic and practice role, Emmanuel is an active member of the Occupational Therapy Association of Ghana (OTAG) and the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT). I also serve as the general secretary of the Occupational Therapy Association of Ghana (OTAG) helping advance occupational therapy practice and research in Ghana.
