About me
I am a lecturer in Dynamics & Control in the School of Engineering. I received my MEng in Aerospace Engineering and PhD in Control Systems from the University of Sheffield, where I worked closely with Airbus on developing adaptive and intelligent control systems and decision-making tools for autonomous systems.
I have worked in industrial settings in the fields of aerospace systems, manufacturing, robotics, automation and space systems. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a Member of the Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers, and a Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
Alongside my academic appointment, I am co-lead of the Space & Aviation Challenge Area of the UK Metamaterials Network, where I work on developing practical applications of metamaterials within the aerospace sector.
PhD applications are welcome.
Area of expertise
My research interests are focused on applied mathematics and control theory, within the broader scope of autonomous systems for mechanical, automotive and aerospace systems. In particular, I am interested in
Modelling approaches for nonlinear networks and the control of flows along these networks.
Adaptive and robust control of dynamical systems, in particular autonomous aircraft and spacecraft.
Design, modelling and optimisation of controllable metamaterials to exhibit desired performance.
Nonlinear modelling of large space structures with applications in orbital power stations and data centres.
