About me

I joined UWE as a lecturer in structural engineering in 2023. Before coming to UWE Bristol, I worked as an assistant professor in structural engineering at Birzeit University and was an associate researcher at the Bauhaus University - Weimar. I was a visiting researcher at the Department of structural mechanics at KU-Leuven and a visiting researcher at the University of Tokyo.

My research interests are performance-based earthquake engineering, seismic evaluation and rehabilitation of existing RC buildings, uncertainty and sensitivity studies in advanced structural analysis and design, and thermal and structural behaviour of RC elements exposed to fire. I was awarded DAAD and DFG research grants. During my work at Birzeit University, I developed a structural mechanics lab, participated in developing the master's program in civil engineering, and participated in programmes promoting women in STEM.

Area of expertise

Structural analysis and design, performance-based earthquake engineering, seismic evaluation and rehabilitation of existing RC buildings, uncertainty and sensitivity studies in advanced structural analysis and design, structural fire engineering, and sustainable structural engineering.
