Area of expertise

I am a social science researcher specialising in environmental education, a field I have been fortunate to explore across a range of disciplines and contexts. Transformation was the central theme of my PhD, in which I examined how educational dynamics in sustainability- and climate-focused university courses can profoundly reshape people’s understandings of themselves and the world. My wider research has explored natural hazard risk communication, and how values of care can emerge through apprenticeships for ‘green’ jobs. In my current Research Fellow role at UWE, I am part of a team investigating how children understand and engage with water in their everyday lives, and how intergenerational knowledge-sharing within households shapes values, attitudes and behaviours around water use.
