About me

I am a HCPC registered diagnostic radiographer and experienced healthcare educator with a twenty-year career that spans the NHS, private healthcare, industry, and higher education. My clinical expertise is in cross-sectional imaging (CT/MRI) and I hold a Masters in this area of practice. I also hold a PgC Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. I have achieved Senior Fellowship status with Advance HE thus demonstrating how my practice meets the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) for teaching and supporting learning in higher education. I am a member of the Institute of Leadership and Management. I previously worked as the Deputy Head of Department for Allied Health Professions at UWE overseeing the radiography (diagnostic and therapeutic); sport rehabilitation; physiotherapy, occupational therapy, paramedics, optometry, and physician associates programmes.

My research interests are mixed, but partnership working is the common strand. I am an expert in establishing and nurturing external partnerships where none previously existed. My doctorate work looks at using crowdsourcing to engage stakeholders (patient, public and learners) in the curriculum design process of a healthcare degree programme. I have looked at this through both a “benefit led” and “social, democratic, rights” framing. This is due for submission at the end of 2021.

I am the incoming clinical fellow to the Chief Allied Health Professions Officer (CAHPO) at NHS England and Improvement. The project for this fellowship is to refresh the national 2016/17-2020/2021 AHPs Into Action strategy and framework with a stronger focus on capturing the citizen voice, using crowdsourcing, in the creation of the national 2021/2022-2026/2027 strategy.

In 2017 I was awarded a “We Are the City Rising Star” in Education and Academia and in 2018 I received the annual UWE VC staff award for “Valuing People”. I am a reviewer for the International peer reviewed journal “Radiography”. Previously I have been a board member and Trustee of the British Association of MR Radiographers (BAMRR) alongside representing UWE, Bristol on the national Heads of Radiography Education forum.
