About me

Janice is an Academic Director for the Department of Allied Health Professions at the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol. The department supports the training of 1,500 learners across eight professional groups- radiography (diagnostic, therapeutic); paramedic science, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, sports rehabilitation, optometry and physician associate studies providing pre and post registration programmes. This work is supported by a team of over 80 staff.

A HCPC registered diagnostic radiographer, Janice's clinical background is cross-sectional imaging and she holds a masters in this field of practice.  After a decade in clinical practice and in industry, Janice moved into academia.  Here Janice completed a postgraduate certificate in teaching and learning in higher education. This sparked an interest in the unique requirements for training of health professions.  Subsequently Janice is a doctoral candidate on the Professional Doctorate in "Research in Health Professions Education" hosted by Swansea University Medical School.

In recognition of Janice's work including project leading the development of the physician associate programme at the University, social media activities, balancing part time studies with full time working and family life, Janice was awarded a 2017 "We Are the City" Rising Star in the Education & Academia category.
