About me

I am a cognitive neuroscientist with a research focus on improving the methodological rigour of non-invasive brain stimulation research. I use techniques such as transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) to investigate how modulating cortical excitability affects response inhibition and other executive processes. I am particularly interested in factors that influence the reliability and reproducibility of stimulation effects, including individual differences, task design, and stimulation parameters.

I received my PhD from Cardiff University where I previously worked as a Brain Stimulation Lab Manager. My PhD research investigated the use of tDCS and cognitive control training in changing automatic associations to food cues.

At UWE, I am a member of the Psychological Sciences Research Group within the Applied Cognition and Neuroscience theme. I am the Co-Module Leader for the Level 3 Psychology Project Module, and I also teach on Research Design and Analysis 1; Mind, Brain and Development, and Methods in Neuroscience. I supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertation projects within my areas of expertise.

Area of expertise

Open science; brain stimulation methods; eating behaviour; cognitive control training
