About me

Having being in Education for more than 30 years the last 17 years have been in Higher Education.

My professional experience as a teacher in primary schools led to my becoming a senior lecturer in Teacher Training in 2002.  Since then, though, I have moved into Professional Development and become Programme Leader for the Post-Graduate qualification in Teaching and Learning in HE which lecturers undertake; I am also now Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Education degree which has the purpose of developing educators with skills and knowledge which will enable them to be educators in a vast range of contexts.

I am also currently working with the University Business Partnerships to develop educator programmes in companies in Bristol.

Area of expertise

My current interests are in developing and leading the BA (Hons) Education degree and in designing bespoke programmes with businesses to enhance their educational opportunities and also in exploring strategies and approaches for successful transition into Higher Education.

I have extensive experience of Learning and Teaching in both informal and formal environments and settings, both nationally and internationally through leading the PCAP (Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice) in Oman.

I have led curriculum design within all stages of Education and also for companies and charities - such as Aardman and Bristol Zoo - working to develop their own Educator programmes and pedagogic approaches to enable them to work with both adults and children effectively.

Assessment and feedback: I was seconded as the assessment and feedback co-ordinator for UWE for 2 years to design and implement key initiatives for enhancement in these areas.

I supervised dissertation students in Initial Teacher Education and Early Childhood.
