About me
Dr Jodie Hawkins is a Senior Lecturer, BABCP Accredited CBT Therapist, and HCPC Registered Health Psychologist. She has experience leading the design and delivery of postgraduate modules on health psychology, counselling, and CBT programmes and providing clinical supervision to trainees, ensuring reflective, ethical, and values-based practice.
Jodie also has experience delivering high-intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and third wave therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) in a variety of formats to clients with complex physical and mental health needs in NHS Talking Therapies settings.
Area of expertise
Jodie's doctoral research used reflexive thematic analysis to explore health psychology theory-informed, process-based adaptations to CBT for people with long-term physical health conditions (LTCs).
Jodie draws on health psychology models such as the Health Belief Model and the Transdiagnostic Model of Adjustment, as well as third wave therapies such as ACT to advance process-based, transdiagnostic approaches that consider the client's perspective and foster resilience, value-based living, and meaningful identity reconstruction for people living with LTCs, translating this into accessible training resources and service designs.
