About me

Prior to arriving at UWE in 2018, I had spent many years working on NHS multidisciplinary teams focused mainly on rehabilitation from stroke, and assisted research trialling an intervention for post-stroke left spatial neglect with Dr Ailie Turton. I came to UWE to study Psychology with Sociology and venture into health research. A commitment to interdisciplinary approaches to health research led me to complete a Master’s degree in Public Health, situated within the Centre for Public Health and Wellbeing , where I’m currently working as a Postgraduate Researcher, funded by the South West Doctoral Training Partnership

Alongside research, I also work as part of the Psychology teaching team as an Associate Lecturer in Social Psychology.

The working title for my PhD thesis is ‘Co-designing and developing the LivDem post-diagnostic course for people living with young onset dementia’, supervised by Dr Emily Dodd - UWE Bristol , Professor Richard Cheston - UWE Bristol , and Dr Michelle Heward | Bournemouth University .

Area of expertise

My PhD research combines research interests in:

Dementia care and support

Co-creation and Public Involvement methodologies

Understanding lived experience

Resilience, Hope, Peer Support and Sociological Capitals

Positive Psychological approaches to Wellbeing

Previous research projects have focused on:

Lived experience of caring for people living with dementia

Transitions and adjustment to living with a long-term condition

Prism adaptation as an intervention for improving self-care in patients with left spatial neglect following stroke
