About me

I am a Macmillan Senior Lecturer and BNSSG ICB Launching Fellow in the School of Health and Social Wellbeing.  As a cancer nurse of over 20 years, I have been dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by cancer through research, education, clinical practice and workforce development.

My research interests include:

  • How best to support people to live well after cancer, particularly those living with chronic pain
  • The creation and evaluation of impactful cancer education to improve clinical practice and enable workforce development

I completed a PhD in January 2024 into the experiences of people living with chronic pain after cancer and am currently taking the proposed clinical recommendations forward during a BNSSG ICB Launching Fellowship (commencing March 2024).

I am on the Steering Committee for the Aspirant Cancer Career and Education Development Programme (ACCEND) and co-chair the pre-registration workstream.  In 2023, I led the development of the Foundations of Cancer Care a freely available cancer care e-learning programme hosted on the NHS Learning Hub.

Current and recent projects:

  • Supported self-management for people experiencing chronic pain after cancer treatment. Funded by the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) Integrated Care Board (ICB) Launching Fellowship, 2024
  • Chronic pain after cancer treatment: Insights from cancer survivors and healthcare professionals in England (UK) to consider how cancer survivors' experiences can be improved.  PhD Thesis, 2024.  Funded by Macmillan Cancer Support and UWE Bristol
